Understanding Statement: While the Boston Tea Party was quite exciting and made a bold statement there were many consequences that arose because of it, despite the glory surrounding it.

Introduction: Can you imagine yourself back in colonial times? The evil King George III is placing tax upon tax on you while you get no representation over in England. Times are hard and money is short. Now you are being forced to buy tea from the East India Company who gets away with not having to pay tax on their tea. You are so angered that you and your friends rally together. At night you dress up as Indians and board the ships carrying the cursed tea and then throw it overboard showing how you feel about this act and England. For a moment you are the hero, but all actions have their consequences, even when the act seems necessary. Complete the Treasure Hunt below in partners or small groups to find out what happened after the Boston Tea Party was over. Then complete the Putting it All Together Task.

Putting it All Together: Now that you have studied the Boston Tea Party and its effects create a timeline of important events. You may begin just prior to the Boston Tea Party and end with the beginning of the Revolutionary War. Then take a stand and write a paragraph telling whether or not YOU feel the war was justified.
